Julia came to Jacksons for an eye examination complaining of intermittent blurring of her vision when reading or using the computer. Examination revealed her glasses to be perfectly adequate and her eyes to be healthy. She did have however, a very unstable tear film - once she blinked, the tears over her cornea broke up within 2 seconds causing her vision to blur until she blinked again.

I first experienced vision problems back in February 2021. Over the course of the next few months, I consulted several eye professionals, each of whom diagnosed a condition called 'dry eye. However, apparently it was "only" dry eye, and I was sent on my way each time with eye drops to use as often as needed.

On the pages Dry Eye/Watery Eye FAQs and Contact Lens FAQs, I discuss if eye make up or medications may be linked to dry eye. While many medications do have adverse effects of dry skin, mouth and eyes a particular systemic medication known as Isotretinoin capsules, used as a treatment for severe acne can have significant and long-lasting, if not permanant effects, on the eye's ability to produce its normal quantity and quility of tears.

Article borrowed from sister website!
In March 2015 a website named Eye Drops Database was launched as a rescource for Eye Care and Health Care Professionals, it was envisaged to be centred around Dry Eye drops, however it has grown to be much more than that. Not withstanding its expansion, it seemed appropriate for me to write a specific article on Dry Eye drops. It was my personal consideration of Dry Eye drops and so was not necessarily the same as other Eye Care/Health Care Professionals (ECPs/HCPs), I thought it useful to re-publish it here!
